TMBG FANART, EVERY WEEK

FLANSBIRTH BURGHDAY YAY!!! I didn’t realize it was Flans’s birthday until it was already his birthday…I thought it was on the 9th!! Should have flipped the 9 upside down lol The posing for this was very inspired by the video art for the AMAZING “ime-chan wants to become a guitar hero” by ime44, it’s so cool  go check it out!! I also reused the pallets from my week 2 art of flans, it’s cool seeing how much I’ve improved drawing him!! I still like week 2’s art though (which can NOT be said for some of the earlier weeks’ art…YEESH) Thank you for reading!! And happy birthday John Flansburgh!!

(Sorry for the weird font change I wrote this in my notes app) Welp I procrastinated HARD this week, I’m typing this at 9:30pm lol I’m tired I had a busy day so I really thought I wouldn’t get an actual drawing done but I crushed this in like an hour (in full not in real time, I took breaks)?? Which is probably why it looks SO BADDD OOOO BURN Yeah I’m not very proud of this I think John looks a lil cringe. I made him cringe though as  John Linnell is not inherently cringe not at all But like it’s ok I’m still learning how to draw him and just real people in general!! I don’t have to draw perfectly every time Also I’m excited for may. May is a big month for TMBG fans :D goo bai ^_^

We’re gonna both draw drawings with the same color pallete Here’s the pallete if anyone’s curious It’s not the prettiest color pallets in the world but it was fun to try to make it work…besides it was randomly generated, I can’t blame crud lol I was gonna do normal lineart but I chickened out and just colored my sketch, I loved how it looked  I also did some smudgy painty stuff with the shading, it gives the drawing a painty feel!! Anyway tysm to anyone who’s readying this the fact that you’re so interested in this goofy challenge means a lot to me…I wonder how many weeks are left? A bunch, probably.  15 WEEKS!!! Aaaaaa This is a redraw of this very specific, kinda cursed image of John linnell. Something is kinda off about it… lol I’ve seen some people point out that he’s literally doing the :3 face so obviously I had to include that in the drawing Colors are simple, lil John in the top right corner is silly, uhhh what do I say uhhh errr bye!! It’s Pompompurin (left) and Cinnamaroll as the Johns!! I don’t think I need to explain who’s who lol I’ve always loved Sanrio, I grew up with hello kitty and the characters have always been so nostalgic to me…I’ve always loved super cutesy things lol I’m happy with the colors/overall composition of the art, it just makes me really happy!! Simple and fun :D This is obviously parodying the infamous “BORN TO DIE/WORLD IS !?#% shirt that I’ve seen popping up, I will NOT share the original image but instead the cleaner, more positive version I referenced.  SOMEONE SAVE HIM OH MY GOAHS Ok for some context: someone (Luke Hennisch, I believe?) made a funny image of John Linnell entering a tarantula nebula and submitted it to tmbgareok. Here’s the post  I thought it was really funny because it’s just so random and silly..,,.,.,..like why. Why would you make this. But then again…why not?? Anyway a couple days later someone (naturalkatsup, who I mainly know from her tally hall archive work lol) submitted the same image just. I didn’t have school today so I got to spend more time on this For context: TMBG (and by that I mean Flans) has been releasing vibe reports where he shares news to TMBG’s YouTube channel…except for some reason he puts fnaf ambience in the back?? I don’t know if he even knows it’s from fnaf, maybe he just searched “scary ambience” and the same ambience Scott Cawthon uses in five nights at Freddys came up. We got a splatoon trailer (mildly awesome), tour dates for TMBG (awesome), and A NEW HOMESTAR RUNNER CARTOON WOOOO (VERY AWESOME) I do believe he will be haunting my dreams. Yes. Even though TMBG won’t be coming to my city (good ol Atlanta), I’m still exited for all the tour clips/videos/whatnot!! 2024 WILL BE THE YEAR OF TMBG!!! We’re getting closer and closer to the new album, so I think I should probably start putting some more work into my art for this challenge!! Quality > Quantity is what I should be going for :) Obviously I didn’t adhere to that in this but that’s ok. “HATSUNE MIKU?? HAVE YOU COME TO PUT ME OUT OF MY MISERY???” This originally wasn’t supposed to be for the challenge but I thought “yeah I don’t really have a plan for next week, I’ll just throw this doodle in” so yeah! For some context: I’ve been (well, used to be?) making vocaloid covers of TMBG songs with Hatsune Miku in the spot of Flans and Kagamine Rin in the spot of Linnell…for the video covers, I’ve been drawing the mascots as the johns!!! I present to you, my accursed creation in her full redesigned glory: Flansune Miku. And yes there’s a Kagamine Rinnell, I just haven’t gotten around to fully redesigning her yet (here’s my latest doodle of her) but back to Meeks…there’s not much to say about her personality other than she’s just Miku but John Flansburgh-ified!! vocaloids have no canon personalities, so I just like to think of her and Rinnell as super one dimensional and exaggerated versions of the Johns…also they don’t get along very well!!  ITS TUESDAAAYYY!! this week’s art is actually the first time I’ve drawn something other than a John…it’s kind of a redraw(?) of this lil tmbg poster that I really like, I have no idea if it’s official or a fan edit or WHAT, but I don’t care!! It’s really silly I think Those girls are so lucky…I wish I had a friend to share my music with…or a dog…or a record player…or a cool rug… I think the final product came out really nice, it’s super duper messy and scraggly but yknow what it looks pretty to my eyes!! I think the colors/textures look nice…it also hit me midway through the drawing that I had COMPLETELY forgotten how to draw dogs. Which is crazy considering I had a massive hyperfixation on them as a kid…he looks ok though!! He’s still a good boy…yes he is… It’s been 1 month of doing this challenge, and I’m genuinely so happy I’ve been able to stick with it!! I promised myself I’d submit it to TMBGareOK after a month, so I’ll be doing that today…I’m kinda weird about submitting my art

 yay it’s that time again!!! I’ll be submitting this blog-thing to TMBGareOK in one week…I’m not scared  you are :’] The Johns as pikmin captains!! Pikmin 4 is one of my favorite games ever, so I decided to combine my two interests into one goofy drawing!!  I think this was kind of a test to see how I could translate the John’s’ features into different species (?) or art styles, like yeah they can be pikmin captains but still LOOK like TMBG!! Thankfully pikmin characters are pretty simple and easy to draw :) here’s my first iteration of them!! As for the art, I REALLY like how I drew flans but linnell doesn’t look very good imo…you can’t really tell he’s holding a yellow pikmin so it just looks like he’s strangling the poor guy :(( IM SURE HE MEANS WELL THOUGH Also!! I really like how I colored this!!! I think it’s nice!!! Not too shabby!!! but yeah, that was this week’s art!! Not sure how to end this…I DO HAVE MORE STUFF TO SAY 1.  It’s Tmbg Tuesday again!! Honestly I should’ve done this on Thursdays…we could’ve had They Thursdays … I (thankfully) found a way to make the images higher quality, I think last week's art was really crunchy lol BUT!! ANYWAY!! RAMBLE TIME!! I use Pinterest a lot for art related stuff, but sometimes I find myself scrolling through a bunch of random images of the Johns...this being one of them. I thought it would be pretty easy to redraw because Flans is just kinda...standing there. Pointing. I traced over the image to get the basic shapes down, then tried to redraw the shapes with the proportions I usually use for my characters. Used that as the base for my sketch and boom!!! Since I had a reference standing right next to me, I think I was able to capture Flans better than I did last time!! I gave him a CHIN! A OUTLINED CHIN!! I NEVER GIVE CHARACTERS OUTLINED CHINS!! The color palette was fun to make too :) But yeah!! Happy with this!! Glad I'm doin this challenge!! Its fun!! I

Hello!! It’s finally time to start this challenge…I haven’t talked about this at all on any of my social medias, but yes!! I’m drawing TMBG fanart every week!! Please see my first post for context :) I was planning on starting work on this drawing a week in advance, but I couldn’t really decide on what to draw…whenever you make a “first” of something it has to be pretty basic, I can’t do anything TOO fancy!! But then again I can’t do anything too simple… Usually when I think of the Johns, I imagine John F being the typa guy to put his Christmas tree on November 1st and always get super festive whenever the holidays come around, and John L just going along with whatever Christmas festivities there are (but secretly just wanting to go home). If you’ve stumbled apon this website and have no idea what this is about, I’m basically going to be challenging myself to draw fanart for the rock band They Might Be Giants (TMBG, if you will) until they release a new album. That’s it. If you don’t know who I am, my name is Audrey/Polygawn!!
