WEEK 39

 I come in swinging like a HURRICANE (get it? Because umm there’s one heading for me rn hahahahahahhaha 🥲)

This took me 3ish days!!! And it was worth it dude!!! I’ve always had a specific idea for an animation to this song so. Yeah ^_^

I wrote an interpretation of this song a while ago, so I’m gonna post it here…it ties into this a lot I swear

near the end of Gigantic, John L seems (SEEMS) to have a lot of insecurities about his place in the band, and thinks that JF is a much better musician than him. Thankful For Your Service seems to be about having a roommate (JF) who eats your food for you and takes showers for you, ect doing stuff for you. The singer (JL) laments about how he wants to show his love and gratitude, but struggles to do so in the presence of so many friendly strangers (TMBG fans). He obviously respects his roommate a lot, trying to give him as much elbow room as possible. And the one line that stands out to me the most:  “Do you think that I think I'm somehow better than you? Please accept my word That nothing could be further from the truth”  Am I making this song sappy and sad and emo?? Yeah…but yknow? I love this song. It’s beautiful. I hope JL knows how much of an amazing artist he is because I’m gonna be really upset if he doesn’t know that

I haven’t used flopaclip in a while, not the best animation program but it does its job…I think the colors for this are really nice. I didn’t draw JL very good but like it’s okkkkkk

Thanks for another week!! Hopefully this makes up for my absence last Tuesday..!!

“HATSUNE MIKU?? HAVE YOU COME TO PUT ME OUT OF MY MISERY???” This originally wasn’t supposed to be for the challenge but I thought “yeah I don’t really have a plan for next week, I’ll just throw this doodle in” so yeah! WEEK 1

Hello!! It’s finally time to start this challenge…I haven’t talked about this at all on any of my social medias, but yes!! I’m drawing TMBG fanart every week!! Please see my first post for context :) I was planning on starting work on this drawing a week in advance, but I couldn’t really decide on what to draw…whenever you make a “first” of something it has to be pretty basic, I can’t do anything TOO fancy!! But then again I can’t do anything too simple… Usually when I think of the Johns, I imagine John F being the typa guy to put his Christmas tree on November 1st and always get super festive whenever the holidays come around, and John L just going along with whatever Christmas festivities there are (but secretly just wanting to go home). So this is just a simple, goofy drawing of John F anxiously waiting for 2024 while John L sleeps it all off- I think the composition could be a lil bit better, and I’m still struggling with dynamic poses, but I’m happy with this for now!! hello! If you’ve stumbled apon this website and have no idea what this is about, I’m basically going to be challenging myself to draw fanart for the rock band They Might Be Giants (TMBG, if you will) until they release a new album. That’s it. If you don’t know who I am, my name is Audrey/Polygawn!! I’m a young artist who’s been hyperfixating on TMBG for the latter half of 2023, and I’ve decided to throw all the art here on blog spot as apposed to YouTube or whatever!! It’s not ideal but I really like the oldish internet vibes of it lol But. About the challenge. The ground rules are that I have to draw something, ANYTHING related to TMBG every single week.
